I would prefer to put the politicization of the pandemic to the side, but it's difficult with so many thinking of it primarily as a political situation. Well that may be because the response was political, not medical, as Dr. Drew discusses in this interview.
It was politically easy to manipulate media into inducing panic responses in the population, because the all-inclusive dangers to total populations were overblown by those that stood to benefit. In other words Big P, who "owns" congress and the media.
I'm noticing more and more doctors are coming out about how insensitive and even inhumane the lockdown response was. But every time I look at main stream media I see they are still on board with the censorship of the actual science, the pre-existing body of public health science (epidemiologic) literature going back decades.
These doctors who are speaking out are still censored in the sense they are not allowed to express their views on mainstream media, so most of us remain unaware of how large a body of opinion this is. And it bears repeating, this is not political, it's medical, these doctors are democrats and republicans. Nor are they antivaxxers, the vast majority of them have always gotten vaccinated.
So where are they speaking out if not on TV? Podcasts and other internet media outlets. Many of them have been speaking out from early on in the pandemic. I only know about them because of my interest in health issues (and I basically stopped watching TV in my teen years).
These courageous doctors have been characterized in mainstream media as a few discredited kooks. Nothing could be further from the truth. Among their ranks are some of the most credentialed public health scientists in the world. I am hoping against hope we do not turn into China, where all media (including internet) is censored.
BTW I looked up Megan Kelly since I am unfamiliar with her (Dr. Drew was on her podcast), she is politically a registered independent who was mostly critical of Trump. Independent is a good vantage point from which to view this:
