Fasting Your Way To 100 Years Old

Here's an interesting presentation titled "Fasting Your Way To 100 Years Old"

You know what scientists say, if it can't be measured it doesn't exist (yet). And then they collectively nitpick things to death, and disagree on everything for decades.

Meanwhile time's a wastin.

Humans have been fasting since Homo Erectus arrived about two million years ago. Why would they fast for crying out loud? Because calories are generally scarce in nature.

So when scientists say humans have been fasting for thousands of years, do they mean the Egyptians or anatomically modern humans (who arrived a mere 100-200 thousand years ago)?

Anyway, you get the point...humans have been fasting a few million years because nature forced it at times, or more recently (a few hundred thousand years) chose it deliberately to cleanse the spirit (it does that too BTW) and heal the body.

It's not that complicated. Meanwhile we want to figure out the biological mechanisms at play so we can institute an exact measured approach (choice of the word institute is $$deliberate). Will we learn anything in terms of process that we don't already know? Maybe, but in broad terms I kind of doubt it.

There are a number of ways to fast and they all induce autophagy to varying degrees. But let's not forget another thing, physical activity induces autophagy too, and some research says to approximately equal degrees as fasting.

So what is autophagy exactly? As the vid said, the meaning of the word autophagy (pronounced ahh-toff-ah-gee) is literally to eat oneself. Well we all know the body heals itself, right? Cut your finger you don't need a prescription to make it heal, it just does. Part of the body heals itself is autophagy: digestion of pathogenic tissues is the autophagy part, then there is the discharging of toxins from the body, and then there is reconstruction with brand new tissue.

And actually all of this is going on simultaneously and continuously 24/7/365 birth to death.

So then why in thunder aren't we all perfectly healthy all the time? Because the body's capacity to heal itself is not unlimited...if we put in toxins faster than the body can clear them we're in trouble. And when I say "put in toxins" I mean put them in your mouth, chew them up, and swallow them. (This is how 90% of toxins end up in human bodies these days.)

Eventually science will (maybe?) figure out we don't need to know how something works (fasting) to know that it does work.

And it's pretty damn basic.

So do your (fasting mimicking) diet, exercise, and stop putting toxins into your mouth.

How do we define toxins? Anything that was not in the ancestral human diet. Which means you can pick it and eat it, or (if you must) kill it and eat it. Yep that means most of the stuff in modern grocery stores is toxic. Don't eat that shit.
