Nowadays the science is quite clear, and it tells us we eat entirely too much protein in developed countries, especially the US. We consume something like 3-4 times the (already generous) recommended amount...and yet we are the sickest population on the planet. Coincidence? Nope. Look at the real science (not "the best marketing medium of the 21st century" fake science).
