Did you guys see this? (link)
Quotes from the article:
According to Science magazine‘s investigation, the images the paper used to support this conclusion — as well as images in other studies on the Aβ*56 subtype by Lesné — appear to have been doctored to exaggerate the protein’s part in the development of Alzheimer’s.
and
it was concerning that it hadn’t been possible for researchers to replicate Lesné’s findings in other studies
and
The potential reach of this kind of deception is hard to comprehend. Lesné’s research — and the direct connection it seemed to demonstrate between amyloids and Alzheimer’s — proved incredibly influential. The Nature paper has been cited in over 2,200 other academic papers, and provoked significant interest in the Aβ*56 protein as a target for Alzheimer’s treatment. According to Science, the NIH funneled about $1.6 billion into projects involving amyloids in this fiscal year — “about half its overall Alzheimer’s funding.”
Me again:
Well, yeah, science is all about multiple replications of the original study. Perhaps the more interesting question is how all this funding got approved with no replication studies to base it on? Could it have anything to do with a mad rush to profit? BigP out of control?
Another quote from the article:
According to Daily Kos, about 100 out of 130 Alzheimer’s drugs currently in trials are designed to attack these amyloids. In 2021, the FDA approved yet another such medicine, Aduhelm. The $56,000-per-year drug from Biogen is so expensive that it’s expected to inflate premiums for 60 million Medicare enrollees.
And me again:
It's also been known for years that there are many with extensive amyloid plaques with no symptoms of Alzheimer's, and many with no amyloid plaques with progressed degrees of Alzheimer's.
That, combined with no successful replication studies, is concerning.
However, there is potential for a new direction of study in the understanding of the cause of Alzheimer's. (link)
And if this proves up over the next decade or so the health damaging potential of refined fats may join refined sugar in the overall understanding of the cause of all the chronic conditions that afflict post industrial humans.
Humm. There are already thousands of MD's who've broken ranks with BigP by reversing these common chronic conditions with little more than dietary change that depends mostly on the elimination of all refined foods. That, and getting victims off of their meds. Humm.
How is it they know what most others do not? Well, science is slow, "weight of the evidence" is a foundation principle that should not be hijacked for any reason.
Meanwhile, can we trust what is self-evident? The bottom line is pretty simple: when the autophagy function (the body heals itself) no longer has to fight the mountain of sludge modern humans put into their bodies disease reversals are quick and painless.
And if we grew up that way would Alzheimer's disease even be a concern?
Yes, chronic disease reversals can be quick and painless, but there is one temporary side effect: we have to come to understand that we are literally addicted to toxic substances engineered to be completely irresistible and go through some level of withdrawal. This is more difficult for some than others, and a supervised fast is a great way to do this for anyone kicking the habit.
We also have to come to understand the significance of "food science" that has become expert in creating substances that are both irresistible, highly toxic, and not coincidentally, highly profitable to both the food science industry and BigP who "treats" these conditions with other toxic substances that prolong the conditions into early death of the victims - two wrongs don't make a right was never truer.
Victims? Well, yes, but we don't need a conspiracy theory to explain this collective health disaster, we only need an understanding of the unconscious mind. "It's difficult to get a man to understand a thing when his salary depends on his not understanding it". (Upton Sinclair)
We also need an understanding that chronic diseases are really not normal. That they are normal is base camp at the mountain of misinformation food science, BigP, and the healthcare industry depend on to maintain the status quo, which is, in capital terms, continually increasing profits...grow or die.
These industries do not understand (for the most part) this mountain of misinformation is in fact misinformation. We are truly now in the Orwellian age, but too close to it to see it.
Let's gain some perspective: the double edged blade of science and technology causes equal amounts of regression and progression, and this problem remains mostly unseen and misunderstood. It does not have to be this way, we can individually, and with our families and friends, find our way to a better understanding of the cause of health.
